Position: Trade Services Officer

Location: Toronto, ON

Description: The Trade Services Officer is responsible for the end to end processing of Trade Service products which includes Documentary Letters of Credit, Guarantees/Standby Letters of Credit and Documentary Collections. Reporting to the Manager of Trade Services, the incumbent seeks to ensure that due diligence for compliance related matters is adhered to. Failure to perform in an efficient and competent manner jeopardizes the Bank’s reputation and may result in significant penalties from the Office of Superintendent of Financial Institution, OFAC and International Chambers of Commerce. All responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Guiding Principles while ensuring adherence to Privacy principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the end to end transactions for Input and or release for Issuances and Amendments of Import Documentary Letters of Credit, Collections & Standby Letters of Credit/Guarantees
  • Performs second or third checks and release on Export/Import Letters of Credit/Collection presentations within delegated authorities
  • Checking of Standby/Guarantee claims presented at RBC counters (across Canada)
  • Input & release of Standby/Guarantee demands
  • Performs release functions of Guarantee cancellations
  • Upon request by client, performs discrepancy clarification for Imports/Export & Guarantee/Standby presentations
  • Performs investigations and support for escalations.
  • Prioritize workloads based on volumes
  • Fully compliant with RBC Operational Risk policies, Anti-Money Laundering policies, Trade Restricted Countries and Risk Approval processes

Skills and Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of Trade processing knowledge Trade products and processes (Import/Export/Documentary Collections & Standby/Guarantees)
  • Proficiency on Exchange Trade Line and Trade Innovation systems
  • High level of proficiency on IBM Client Application, Synergy CRM 2.0, SRF (BCRMS)
  • Knowledge of Documentary Collections processing,  ICC600, URR525, Inco Terms, ISP 98 Trade Product Folios
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and work independently

Preferred:

  • Certified Document Credit Specialist (CDCS)
  • French Language
  • FITT Diploma in International Trade
