Description: Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for a Senior Customs Analyst to support our corporate headquarters located in Mississauga, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and monitors all imports for entry in Nissan Canada’s CSA System. Files B3 and B3X entries as required, notifies management of problems as necessary, researches best practices for manager review, and prepares metrics for reporting purposes.
  • Solicits NAFTA Certificates from Canadian Suppliers. Audits for accuracy and logs NAFTA Certificates received from suppliers. Notifies management of any problems or discrepancies as necessary.
  • Assigns and audits tariff classification for Canadian customs entries. Analyzes product specifications to determine correct classification in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of Canada in compliance with applicable Canadian laws and regulations. Updates and maintains internal classification reports and database.
  • Researches correct OGD (Other Government Departments) requirements for imported products and any other information necessary to ensure accurate customs entries and cargo releases. Researches and responds to service provider(s) requests for information in order to expedite accurate cargo release.
  • Prepares metrics for management using Oracle Discoverer (EDW), CSA System, Microsoft Access and Excel 2010 to ensure compliant best practices for internal and external service providers.
  • Prepares of B3X’s or other post entry amendments as needed
  • Assists domestic and foreign internal and external personnel to resolve issues and to ensure efficient and accurate imports for Nissan Canada.
  • Assists with imports and exports of factory generated products (prototypes, tradeshows, etc.) for exhibition, testing, and clinics. Notifies management of customs issues surrounding transactions and follows management recommendations for alternative procedures.
  • Assigns and audits tariff classification for Canadian customs entries. Analyzes product specifications to determine correct classification in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of Canada in compliance with applicable Canadian laws and regulations. Updates and maintains internal classification reports and database.
  • Monitors exception reports, and internal and CBSA rejection notices. Notifies management of customs issues surrounding transactions and follows management recommendations for alternative procedures.
  • Follows department procedures to ensure import and export of foreign goods in compliance with Canadian laws. Updates internal controls and procedures per Manager’s direction.
  • Able to sit for and pass Canadian Certified Customs Specialist exam.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of customs regulations and procedures for importing. Customs Brokerage, logistics, or manufacturing knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 3 to 5 years customs and trade administrative experience, with solid knowledge of the methodology for HS classification. No Customs Broker License required but must be able to sit for and pass Canadian Certified Customs Specialist exam.
  • Canadian Customs Training or Community College preferred.
  • Ability to utilize SAP, Microsoft Access/Excel effectively, other PC applications, and mainframe applications.
