Position: Seafreight Import Manager

Location: Toronto/Mississauga, ON

Description: The Seafreight Import Manager will manage and lead the sea freight import FCL and LCL departments in Toronto to achieve the operational, business development as well as financial targets. They will also oversee all day-to-day import logistics activities and financial aspects required for the transportation of cargo via sea freight. In addition, there is a responsibility to actively maintain some customer and vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development of strategies of the operation together with Tor ZS and in line with business field strategy
  • Accountable for the arrangement, monitoring of freight; PL and budget/RFC responsibility
  • Evaluate current processes and structure and make any necessary changes in order to achieve KPI/targets
  • Actively participates in the implementation of the organization’s strategy relative to working instructions and efficiency objectives
  • Supports the organization’s strategy by providing data and recommendations on costing, operational alternatives and creating efficiencies
  • Communicates, develops and maintains customer and vendor relationships
  • Performance reviews of direct reports through the HCMS process to continually develop their careers
  • Interfaces regularly with customers and other divisional operations staff throughout KN
  • Ensure 100% compliance by the sea import managers and staff on Code of Conduct

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the Freight Forwarding business; with the majority of experience in Sea freight
  • Previous experience in a management or leadership role is compulsory; management experience for a large group would be preferred
  • Must have experience managing a profit and loss center; prepare sound financial budgets and execution of business plans
  • Operational and market expertise on the main sea trade lanes (TPEB, TAWB) as well as solid product knowledge on LCL and Reefer Logistics
  • Sound understanding of the importation process and customs clearance process in Canada
  • Post secondary school education, relevant professional certification or equivalent
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, tactical skills
  • Demonstrates high level of business acumen
