Whirlpool Canada is a major force in the Canadian appliance market, generating annual sales of over $1 billion. We employ approximately 230 people across the country, with our headquarters located in Streetsville Mississauga, Ontario. Our presence in Canada dates back over 150 years to 1859 when John Inglis established Mair, Inglis, and Evatt in Guelph, Ontario. This role in summary
The Senior Analyst – Customs role is based in Mississauga and reports to the Senior Manager, Supply & Logistics with dotted line reporting to the Director of Supply Chain – Canada.
Your responsibilities will include
- Manage Canadian Customs Compliance: Act as the primary lead for all Canadian customs matters, ensuring compliance with regulations and coordinating with internal and external partners.
- Oversee Customs Processes: Handle daily, weekly, and monthly customs processing, including Customs Self Assessment (CSA) and managing related data.
- Ensure Timely Clearance and Record Keeping: Lead efforts for timely customs clearance of shipments, maintain necessary records, and support import/export readiness.
- Facilitate Free Trade Agreements (FTA): Lead FTA processes, including solicitation, review, and ensuring benefits are claimed correctly.
- Support Inquiries and Compliance: Act as the Canadian lead for inquiries from agencies like CBSA, support ad hoc shipments, and provide guidance on customs-related policy changes.
Minimum requirements
- 3- 5 years experience in a Customs related field (importer, broker, consultant, etc.)
- Post-secondary degree specializing in business administration, international business or supply chain
- 10 – 20% travel required; Valid Canadian passport with the ability to enter the United States is required
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
Preferred skills and experiences
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation
- Customs Self Assessment (CSA) experience
- Must have the ability to work independently and properly prioritize workloads and other assignments
- Use problem solving skills to find new and creative ways for process improvement and cost reduction
- Knowledge of SAP; experience with the Google suite of tools is a plus.
