What are your contributions to the team?

This role mainly focuses on the operational aspects of the business (transportation/freight and customs regulations – import/export)

  • Lead the Transportation and Logistics team in order to enable the group to identify best practices and provide recommendations towards strategies in alignment with business requirements
  • Support all business units including Aftermarket and service centers on best practices related to shipping and freight planning along with basic customs regulations
  • Be responsible for compliance and knowledge of Transport Canada regulations, CTPAT security program, PIP (Partner in Protection) and CSA (Custom Self-Assessment) and all related audits, and other safety standards
  • Set objectives for the Transportation and Logistics team, aligned with the head of IGS yearly strategic goals, including but not limited to, cost reduction, EBIT reductions, cost avoidance and special project implementation
  • Manage cost of transportation; supports overall financial goals including providing regular budget updates and supplier freight claims charge backs; fully utilizes transportation supplier contracts to reduce freight costs whenever possible
  • Provide regular market intelligence on the current Supply Chain Risk Management related to Global Transportation, in order to find ways to mitigate the various risks
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the market for the commodity
  • Provide decision directions, working with senior management and ensuring that everyone has the information they need to make the right calls
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with suppliers
  • Create presentations for various management reviews and governance sessions
  • Coach and develop team members
  • Conduct performance evaluations and personal development plans with team members

How to thrive in this role? Skills, knowledge & experience:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Transportation/Logistics, Engineering or equivalent and ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.
  • You are recognized for your leadership and innovation and have a proven track record in coordinating and managing a team
  • You possess strong knowledge of international import/export regulations and Customs Compliance
  • You have experience in the aerospace industry in Customer Services & Transportation and/or manufacturing environment and/or programs management in a commercial role
  • You have strong capabilities in operational, commercial, and financial management.
  • You have knowledge of CBSA CARM on commercial importation and supply chain interactions with CBSA
  • You have knowledge of 3PL, 4PL, and Transport logistics.
  • You possess strong knowledge of Incoterms 2020
  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • You have experience in strategic sourcing / category management and budgeting
  • You have a high proficiency and are good communicator in French and English (written and spoken)
  • You have advanced knowledge in the Microsoft Office environment (MS Project, Word, Excel, Power Point and MS Outlook.)
  • You have knowledge of SAP (an asset)
