Upon returning to Canada from South Korea in 2009, I was faced with the challenge of finding my ideal position in an increasingly competitive job market. My desired field of international trade was already competitive and my interest in export development narrowed job opportunities even further.

Sonya finished her post-graduate studies at the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, and graduated with a BA in Social Sciences and International Studies and Modern Languages from the University of Ottawa. In 2010, she was awarded the Student of International Trade award by the Toronto Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT), and in the fall of 2011 she received her CITP®|FIBP®. Sonya’s previous work experience has been with the Canadian office of the State of North Carolina where she provided research and export assistance to small and medium sized companies. Prior to that, she worked with Champion Express, a Canadian third party logistics provider.
